Universal Design for Learning Experts Unveil New Tech and Other Tools for Teaching at ISTE Conference

Wakefield, MA, June 27, 2012 — Experts on Universal Design for Learning from CAST will unveil innovative technology and other supportive tools for improved teaching and learning in schools at this year’s ISTE National Education Computing Conference June 24-27th in San Diego, California. The new tools will help educators improve their practice by connecting them to each other, facilitating sharing of UDL lessons and other resources, and supporting the development of UDL-aligned curricula.

Drawn from methods designed to accommodate students with physical and cognitive disabilities, Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a flexible, research-based approach to teaching and learning that adapts to and challenges students with a wide variety of strengths and needs.

A growing number of educators, school districts and states are viewing UDL as a critical part of their reform efforts and are incorporating UDL principles with Common Core Standards into classrooms and schools. Key staff members from CAST will share the latest developments on this comprehensive approach.

WHAT: Experts on Universal Design for Learning will share new tools for educators who are interested in improving teaching practice by connecting to each other, sharing UDL lessons and resources, and creating curriculum aligned with UDL principles.
